A popular disco event for disabled adults is celebrating its first birthday this week.
The SEN Disco, organised by Down’s Syndrome North Yorkshire in partnership with Artizan, will mark a year since its launch with a special event tomorrow (Wednesday) at The Ivory Bar in Harrogate.
Since starting in 2024, more than 700 people have attended the monthly discos, which have proved a hit with the local SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) community.
The event is open to adults aged 18 and over, and carers are given free entry.

Attendees say the disco has given them the chance to socialise, dance and enjoy a night out with friends in an inclusive setting.
One regular, Sammy, said he “loves to dance with his friends and is overjoyed to be there.”
Another, Hannah, said:
“I like it when I can dance with my friends and have a cocktail.”
Linda Hall from Down's Syndrome North Yorkshire Support Group praised the impact of the initiative.
She said:
“Who knew from an idea to a conversation to make it happen that it would be so successful.
“A place where they can come together and have great fun. It’s a truly wonderful thing.”
The first anniversary event will include a DJ and full bar, and takes place at The Ivory Bar from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
Tickets cost £12, with carers admitted free of charge. Find out more online here.
