Businesses, organisations and individuals across the Harrogate area are being encouraged to take part in The Big Harrogate Sleepout 2025.
The event, which returns for its second year on Thursday 2nd October, will see participants ‘sleep rough’ for one night at Harrogate Rugby Club.
It’s organised by Harrogate Spring Water alongside local charities Harrogate Homeless Project (HHP) and Just ‘B’ to raise funds for people facing homelessness and bereavement.
Last year’s Sleepout raised over £2,500, and organisers are calling on more local businesses and individuals to get involved this year.
David Brown, Solicitor at Raworth’s, said:
“It was amazing to be part of the first-ever Big Harrogate Sleepout last year and to increase awareness of the reality so many face.
“The togetherness everyone showed that night was fantastic, and here’s hoping that we can raise even more than last year’s £2,500 total for such an inspirational initiative.”
Both HHP and Just ‘B’ rely heavily on community donations to continue their work.
HHP provides services such as the Springboard Day Centre and No Second Night Out programme, while Just ‘B’ offers emotional wellbeing and bereavement support to children, young people and adults across the region.
Ian Swann, Operations Director at Harrogate Spring Water, said:
“We’ve seen first-hand how powerful it is when businesses across Harrogate come together for a cause.
“The Sleepout is not just about one night – it’s about showing solidarity, raising awareness and funding the services that catch people when they’re most in need.”
Harrogate Rugby Club will once again host the event, with participants invited to spend the night outdoors.
Activities, food, refreshments and opportunities for reflection will be provided, with tents permitted to ensure accessibility for all.
For more information or to sign up, visit Eventbrite, or support the event by sponsoring participants through the Give as you Live campaign page.
