A Harrogate charity that provides free transport for elderly and disabled residents has unveiled a new minibus after raising more than £58,000.
Happy Wanderers Ambulance Organisation welcomed Tom Gordon MP to its Harrogate base last week to celebrate the arrival of the vehicle, which will help the charity continue its vital work across the district.
The Liberal Democrat MP for Harrogate and Knaresborough met volunteers and heard how the organisation, which relies entirely on donations, successfully raised the funds needed to purchase and maintain the new bus.
Happy Wanderers offers a wide range of services and outings for elderly and disabled residents, including trips to local attractions, shopping excursions, visits to the seaside and church outings.

The charity also helps people with limited transport options attend medical appointments and visit family and friends for special occasions.
As the organisation approaches its 70th year of providing free transport, it is appealing for new volunteers to help support its services.
Mr Gordon is encouraging local residents to consider giving their time to the charity.
He said:
“Happy Wanderers are a real gem. Their transport support is a lifeline to some of the most vulnerable.
“I encourage residents to offer their time where they can. Whether it’s helping someone get to an appointment or a trip to the seaside, even a day a week could make all the difference.”
