A Harrogate charity is set to host a special 'Hat Day' next week to raise dementia awareness and support people living with the condition across North Yorkshire.
Dementia Forward will hold its annual Hat Day on Friday 22nd May as part of Dementia Action Week, which runs from 18th to 24th May.
The campaign encourages people to wear a hat and donate to the charity, with organisers hoping to spark conversations around dementia while also raising vital funds for support services.
The initiative was first launched in May last year and has now become an annual awareness event under the slogan “Don’t Keep Dementia Under Your Hat”.

Participants are being encouraged to get creative with their headwear, whether it be cowboy hats, sombreros, bobble hats or homemade paper designs.
A spokesperson for Dementia Forward said:
"Hat Day provides an opportunity to unite communities, encourage conversations about dementia, and raise money to ensure support and resources are available for everyone affected by dementia in North Yorkshire."
People who cannot take part on 22nd May are also being encouraged to hold their own Hat Day events at any point during Dementia Action Week.
Schools and clubs are also being invited to get involved by asking students to wear a hat in exchange for a £1 donation.
Anyone wanting further information or support with organising a Hat Day event can contact Dementia Forward by emailing amy.senior@dementiaforward.org.uk or calling 01765 601224.
