Harrogate Cat Rescue issues update on kittens born with genetic condition

Noir (left) and Neve (right) were both born with a rare genetic condition.

Two kittens with genetic bone problems have been making "fantastic progress" under the care of Harrogate Cat Rescue following an appeal to help meet ongoing vet expenses.

Noir and Neve were born with missing bones in their front legs - Noir in two legs and Neve in one.

The pair have since undergone intensive treatment with Swift Referrals and are now going from 'strength to strength' under the care of Rhys Treharne.

The kittens are now around 11 weeks old.

Both kittens have been wearing leg splints but are currently having a two-week break to see how they manage without them.

Celia Dakin, lead volunteer at Harrogate Cat Rescue, said the kittens were full of energy and enjoying life.

She said:

"It's probable that Noir will require surgery when he's about six-months -old to try to straighten his legs. For Neve it's more of a wait and see time, as in general, she uses both of her legs to run about."

The charity says it is extremely grateful for the ongoing support from the public, with the duo’s future treatment expected to remain expensive.
