Harrogate Cat Rescue has issued an urgent public appeal as soaring veterinary bills push the charity into crisis.
The rescue, which operates on a policy of never turning away animals in need, says it has reached a crisis point as multiple cases require complex and costly veterinary intervention.
Despite receiving regular monthly donations, the charity says these contributions are not sufficient to meet ongoing expenses, with fundraising events also falling short of covering the shortfall.
A spokesperson for the rescue said:
“We are appealing to the public for donations for vet bills, as we are in crisis.
“We never refuse a sick or injured animal, but we have no other option, but to appeal for help from the public.
“We have several sick and injured animals requiring costly veterinary treatment.”
Among the cats currently being treated is Ace, who arrived at the rescue aged two with a long-standing shoulder injury.
He was rescued from a multi-cat household in Beeston, Leeds, and will require a full limb amputation followed by rehabilitation.

Faith, who came into care at just six weeks old with a broken back leg, healed initially but suffered damage to her growth plate, resulting in underdeveloped toes.
Goldie has a similar injury, including an infection in the growth plate, leaving uncertainty over her long-term prognosis.
Two kittens, Upsy-Daisy and Biscuit, have both been treated for feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a serious and often fatal condition.
Upsy-Daisy, also rescued from the Beeston household, is additionally recovering from giardia.
Both kittens are currently under observation and are expected to make a full recovery before being placed for adoption.
The rescue has launched a joint fundraising appeal for Upsy-Daisy and Biscuit via JustGiving, while also encouraging supporters to consider small regular donations as potentially life-saving for the animals in their care.
