The Harrogate Bus Company is to offer free travel to current and former Forces personnel as the nation prepares to remember those who defended our freedom.
The bus operator’s gesture will apply on Remembrance Sunday (9th November), and on Remembrance Day (Tuesday 11th November).
All-day free travel will be available for all current service personnel with forces ID, plus veterans in uniform or with their medals on all of the company’s routes.
As well as frequent local services in and around Harrogate and Knaresborough, the firm’s buses link Ripon, Harrogate and Wetherby with Leeds, plus rural bus routes between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge, and Knaresborough and Boroughbridge.
Parent firm Transdev’s Managing Director Henri Rohard said:
“As many veterans and their families continue to face financial challenges, we want to continue supporting them wherever we can.
“In doing so, we remember those who gave their lives for our freedom, while also supporting those living with the impact of conflict today.
“All our teams at our depots across the North are supporting us with this. Together, we will honour the service of Forces personnel past and present.”
