Harrogate-born singer Olly Alexander has been chosen to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision song contest in 2024.

The 68th Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Malmö, Sweden in May next year. And 33-year-old Olly, best known for being the lead singer in pop band Years & Years, will be the entry for the UK. He follows Mae Muller, who came 25th out of 26 when representing the UK in the 2023 Song Contest. Revealing the news via social media, Olly said:
“This was very difficult to keep quiet, oh my god! I’m so excited to announce that I’m the UK’s Eurovision entry for 2024. “I’ve wanted to do this for a long, long time and it feels like the right moment to start releasing music under my own name!”As a singer, actor and fashion icon, Olly has already achieved huge success.
