Harrogate and Ripon rotary clubs plant over 900 trees in natural landscape The Rotary Clubs of Harrogate and Ripon have planted 910 trees in the Nidderdale Natural Landscape. The clubs joined forces to plant trees at two sites - the first near Sawley and another at Lofthouse. Harrogate architect firm S+SA helped the group plant 330 trees at Sawley, managed by a ranger from the National Trust Skell Valley Project. Staff from MoneyWeb and Pacific Asset Management assisted the the second site. The two companies had paid for nearly all of the trees planted at a cost approximately £4 per tree. Charles Dickinson from Harrogate Rotary Club said:
“Unfortunately, the weather was atrocious for much of the two planting days, and it was necessary to have a third planting day when the weather was fine – what a relief! “The two clubs are very grateful to the three companies and volunteers for all their help, both physical and financial.”[caption id="attachment_103919" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Volunteers planting trees in the Nidderdale Natural Landscape.[/caption] A volunteer from Zero Carbon Harrogate, who was celebrating her 50th birthday, organised her family and friends to come and help. They also donated to than tree fund, rather than buy presents for the birthday girl. The Trees For Nidderdale project has now planted over 23,000 trees and is looking for more suitable sites within the Nidderdale Natural Landscape area. All donations are spent buying trees, stakes and shelters. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
