Runners are being invited to take part in a colourful summer 5km race through Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden in aid of children's mental health.
Mind in Harrogate District is hosting its Go Bright Fun Run on Sunday 19th July, supported by the National Trust.
The feel-good 5K invites people of all ages and abilities to run, jog or walk through the UNESCO World Heritage landscape while raising vital funds for local children and young people’s mental health services.
The event also forms part of the National Trust’s Summer of Play, a nationwide initiative encouraging families to spend more time outdoors together and enjoy nature, movement and shared experiences during the summer holidays.
Every entry to the Go Bright Fun Run helps fund Mind in Harrogate District’s specialist support for children and young people across the local area.
Tina Chamberlain, CEO at Mind in Harrogate District, said:
“Go Bright is about bringing people together in a beautiful setting to do something positive for themselves and for local young people.
"Every person who signs up helps us continue supporting children and young people across our district with their mental health - and we’re proud to be working in partnership with the National Trust to make this special event possible at Fountains Abbey.”
Participants will follow a scenic 5K route through the historic grounds of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden, passing sweeping parkland views, riverside paths and the dramatic abbey ruins.
As part of Summer of Play, the National Trust is inviting families to experience heritage spaces in new ways - and the Go Bright Fun Run offers a memorable opportunity to explore one of Yorkshire’s most iconic locations while supporting a local cause.
Stephen Hopwood, Managing Partner at headline sponsor McCormicks Solicitors, said:
“Being part of the local community matters to us and as a firm we also have a keen interest in sport so supporting initiatives that bring people together and promote wellbeing is a great opportunity for us.
“We’re delighted to be the headline sponsor of the Go Bright Fun Run and to be working alongside Mind in Harrogate District on such a positive, inclusive event in a truly special local setting.”
Justin Scully, General Manager at Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal said:
“We’re delighted to support Mind in Harrogate District’s Go Bright Fun Run as part of our Summer of Play programme at Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal.
It’s a fantastic opportunity for families to get active together outdoors while helping raise funds for children and young people’s mental health support locally.”
Participants are encouraged to wear bright colours and take part at their own pace, whether running, walking or enjoying the event with family and friends.
Funds raised will help ensure more children and young people across the Harrogate district can access support earlier and feel less alone when they need help most.
