A popular former Harrogate headteacher has passed away following a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Tim Broad, who stepped down as the Headteacher of Western Primary in April, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last month at the age of just 62.
Despite leading a healthy lifestyle, Tim’s cancer had already spread to his liver and quickly became too aggressive for treatment to be a viable option.
He passed away on 20th November.
Tim’s daughter Jessica said:
“Dad was the most loving, brave and intelligent man we will ever know, and his loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him.”
In honour of their dad, both Jessica and her brother Jack are raising money for Pancreatic Cancer UK.
The pair are planning to complete the Three Peaks Challenge - Ben Nevis (Scotland), Mt Snowdon (Wales) and Scafell Pike (England) - as part of their fundraising.
Jessica said:
“We chose this challenge because we have both climbed all three of these mountains before with Dad.
“We can attribute so many life skills, childhood memories and love for the outdoors from the adventures we went on with Dad as kids which is why we feel that this challenge is so close to our hearts and the best possible way to honour Dad.”
She added:
“Please help us raise as much money as possible to fight pancreatic cancer and create a more promising future for other patients and their families.
“Any donation, no matter how small or large, will encourage us on every step of our challenge and make a huge difference for pancreatic cancer patients all over the world.”
Tim’s family have ask not to be contacted, but if you would like to support them, you can donate via the JustGiving page here.
