Redrow’s national 'Please Play Here' campaign aims to encourage children to spend more time outdoors this summer.
Family fun day held in Harrogate to encourage outdoor play
Families headed to Harrogate for a day of outdoor play and fun to launch Redrow’s latest campaign.
The event marked Redrow’s national ‘Please Play Here’ campaign, set up to encourage children to spend more time outdoors this summer.
Over 100 people attended the event at Granby Meadows with giant garden games, a bouncy castle, face painting, ice cream and hot dogs for all.
The new initiative comes as Redrow uncovered that two thirds of parents in Yorkshire say their child plays outside for less time than their generation.
Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Yorkshire, said:[caption id="attachment_74807" align="aligncenter" width="800"] The playmaking event at Granby Meadow.[/caption]“The event was very well attended, I think Harrogate was the only place in Yorkshire that escaped the rain.
“We had lots of families join us for the day, with children getting their faces painted and running around on the inflatables. It was a great event, thanks to everyone who joined us.”
The campaign has been headed by children’s psychologist and professor at Exeter University, Professor Helen Dodd, who is working with Redrow as an expert advisor and ‘head of Playmaking’ to help develop inspiring play-friendly communities for residents across Yorkshire.
Granby MeadowsSince its launch in spring 2022, the 95-home Granby Meadows venture in Harrogate has been ‘bucking the trend’ with strong property sales.
The 95- home development, located off Claro Road, is a natural extension of Redrow’s Devonshire Gardens development that completed in 2018; and is almost sold out.
There are now two remaining properties, both from the builder’s Heritage Collection.
