A Harrogate primary school has been recognised by the Secretary of State for Education for its SATs performance, following strong outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
New Park Primary Academy received a letter of congratulations from Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, highlighting the school’s results in the 2024/25 academic year.
The recognition focuses on the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and reflects the school’s approach to maintaining high expectations and inclusive practice.
In her letter, the Education Secretary praised the school’s performance, writing:
“Congratulations to you and your team on the excellent outcomes the disadvantaged pupils at New Park Primary Academy achieved at the end of the 2024/25 academic year.
“Your school’s performance places it among the very best nationally, and this is a significant achievement.”
The Secretary also added:
"This success reflects the dedication of your staff and the hard work of your pupils. It shows what can be achieved when ambition and commitment come together.
“Thank you for everything you do to give children the best possible opportunities to succeed. Please pass on my thanks and congratulations to your staff and pupils."
The academy places an emphasis on high-quality teaching, targeted support and a broad, ambitious curriculum, with the aim of closing attainment gaps and ensuring pupils from all backgrounds are supported to achieve their potential.
Headteacher Sasha Bune said:
“We are incredibly proud of our pupils and our staff. This recognition is a testament to the hard work, dedication and care shown across the school every day.
