An international collective of professional musicians will take to the stage in Harrogate next week.
The Madhouse Orchestra will bring a unique interpretation of classical music to the town on Friday 24th April.
Audiences are invited to experience Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 6 at Wesley Chapel on Oxford Street from 7:30pm.
The programme will feature Dream Sequences from Lady in the Dark by Kurt Weill, alongside Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, arranged by F McAlpine for a reduced ensemble of 18 players.
Organisers say the reworked version of Mahler’s “Tragic” Symphony retains the power of the original composition while offering a closer, more personal listening experience.
The concert will be led by conductor Fergus McAlpine and will feature soprano Katherine McAlpine.
A spokesperson for Madhouse Orchestra said:
“For any classical music fans out there, don't miss this! Madhouse is a small, international collective of musicians, some of whom come to us from the most elite orchestras in continental Europe and the UK.
“It's going to be a fantastic show. If you're not really into the classical scene, that's totally fine because we do things differently!”
The Madhouse Orchestra is described as a festival ensemble made up of musicians who perform with leading orchestras across the UK and Europe.
The group brings together a range of musical styles and backgrounds, with a focus on delivering high-quality performances in a more relaxed and accessible environment.
The orchestra, which typically performs with between 15 and 20 musicians depending on the programme, is based in Harrogate and will be delivering its first concert of the calendar year.
