Two new benches have been installed in Wetherby in memory of a much-loved former football coach.
The benches are now in place at at Grange Park Sports Club as a tribute to Rachel Roylance, who coached boys and girls at Kirk Deighton Rangers JFC.
Rachel passed away at the age of 49 last October after being diagnosed with cancer.
Her family arranged for the benches, named Sunshine Benches, to be placed in the park in line with her wish to create a space where people could relax, connect, and share conversations.
A spokesperson for Kirk Deighton Rangers said:
“A heartfelt thank you goes to the players Rachel coached and their families, whose generous fundraising helped bring this tribute to life, Kirby Builders Merchants for providing materials and Jim Parkin and the Carnell Group for their fantastic work on the installation and groundworks.
“This lasting legacy will continue to support and encourage girls’ football for many seasons to come.”
The benches are intended as a lasting tribute and will continue to serve the community while supporting the growth of girls’ football in the area.
