An allotment in Bilton are raising funds to complete a new shed and toilet facility at the Bachelor Gardens allotments.
The North Outfall Allotment Association held a pumpkin sale on Saturday, 28th October, offering a variety of pumpkins along with hot food and drinks to support the project. The group says the money raised will go towards finishing the facilities, which they say will benefit people who use the allotments and support future community activities. Following the sale, a number of pumpkins remained, and rather than see them go to waste, volunteers placed them outside the main gate along with apples and beetroot for people to collect for free. Gary, from the allotment association, said they still need to raise around £3,000 to complete the work and explained their hopes for the space once it is finished. He said: “We will be looking at organising small workshops for the local community when we finally finish it, like pumpkin carving, flower arranging, quilting, embroidery and lots of other crafts as well as hosting open days,”. Donations are being accepted via the North Outfall Allotment Association to help complete the project. You can find out more via the link here
