A charitable Harrogate business has presented a cheque for £10,000 to local charity Our Angels to fund a new mobile ultrasound scanner at Harrogate Hospital.
The donations were collated by Trust Payments as part of the firm’s annual charity challenge held on 17th May.
Employees and customers of the business embarked on the Jurassic Coast Challenge – a trek spanning a 58km distance and 1700m elevation.
Trust Payments were inspired to work with Our Angels thanks to their relationship with the Harrogate office.
The charity works alongside the hospital’s maternity ward to provide anything that they need to care for parents, including homemade memory blankets.
Emma Lofthouse, Chair of Our Angels, said:
“We were absolutely over the moon when Trust chose Our Angels to support with this epic challenge.
“The spirit that they undertook this challenge; their determination and positivity absolutely blew us all away.
“And receiving such a huge amount of money from one donor for a small, local charity like us is incredible.
“Every single penny that they raised will now go straight into our ultrasound scanner appeal.”
She added:
“Being able to provide parents with a timely and effective ultrasound scan with a new machine, which is highly effective and with the highest technology, means that we're able to do this in the timeliest of ways, to be able to provide that information as quickly as we can to families.
“We will also be using this scanning machine for families in pregnancies after loss.
“This ultrasound machine will make a huge difference to the families in our care.”
Laurence Booth, Group CEO of Trust Payments, said:
“It’s fantastic that our Charity Challenge has raised such a phenomenal amount for such a worthy cause.
“This is a great grassroots fundraising achievement that aligns with our corporate value of striving to build a better, more sustainable tomorrow and conducting our business ethically, driving social and environmental change.”
