Yorkshire Water has issued a warning to local residents to stay vigilant following reports of individuals posing as representatives from the company.
Several customers have recently contacted the utility provider after receiving unexpected visits or calls from people claiming to be from Yorkshire Water.
To help with security measures, Yorkshire Water is encouraging eligible residents to sign up for their free Priority Services Register.
One of the key features of this service includes the option to set up a unique security password, which can be used to verify the identity of genuine Yorkshire Water staff during visits or phone calls.
In addition to the security code, the Priority Services Register offers a range of support services for individuals with specific needs, including the elderly, those with medical conditions, or anyone who may require extra assistance during water supply interruptions.
