It's not quite the snow day that was forecasted, but the Harrogate district has been hit with a light dusting of snow overnight.
Although it looks likely that schools will remain open, roads have been affected in parts and there is still a yellow weather warning in place for ice until 11am today (Tuesday).
Thankfully North Yorkshire Council has been gritting the main roads in and out of Harrogate.
Whilst gritting of the major A-roads - including the A1(M) - is the responsibility of National Highways, North Yorkshire Council has crews on call 24 hours a day to ensure the Harrogate district is safe for motorists.
And thanks to a new online map service, which was introduced in 2022, residents can see exactly which roads have been gritted - and plan their journey accordingly.

The site offers access to an interactive map, which shows the priority one and two routes and where gritters have been in the previous ten hours.
A North Yorkshire Council spokesperson said:
“Remember gritting does not guarantee an ice free surface. Traffic needs to drive over a gritted road in order to grind the salt and activate it.
“Salt alone does not melt snow and ice. We monitor conditions throughout the day and night and adjust our gritting plans as needed.”
The site also provides access to 27 roadside cameras, which give live images of conditions on key routes around the county.
Details of North Yorkshire's gritting operation can be found online at www.northyorks.gov.uk/road-gritting.
