Tractor run through Ripon raises £3,400 for local hospice

A charity tractor run that passed through Ripon and the surrounding villages earlier this month has raised more than £3,400.

The St Gemma’s Charity Tractor Run event returned on Saturday 9th August, starting at Tates Garden Centre.

It was fundraising for St Gemma’s Hospice - a Leeds-based organisation which provides specialist end-of-life care.

And this year’s event was able to raise £3,410 - topping last year’s total of £2,490.

The event was supported by Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright, who took part in the tractor run, and Ripley Castle owner Sir Thomas Ingilby.

A spokesperson for the event said:

“We would like to say a massive thank you to all of you lovely people who helped to make this day such a fantastic success.

“By supporting St Gemma’s, you have helped people to die with the care and dignity that they deserve, and for others to receive specialist care until they are able to return to the comfort of their own homes.”

Filming took place during the event for a Channel 5 programme set to air in 2026.
