The Bay Horse Inn in Green Hammerton will reopen tomorrow (Saturday) under new ownership.
It’s been taken over by couple Brett and Bronte, who are the new landlord and landlady.
The pair, who have a background in events and hospitality, said:
“We are delighted to announce that we are your new landlord and landlady of Green Hammerton’s local pub – The Bay Horse.
“Wow do we have big boots to fill! Massive thank you to Jon and Tina Clarke for all of their support.”
Brett and Bronte operate Skipbridge Country Weddings, which has won the Wedding Industry Award for the UK’s Best Venue, and Garden Weddings, a marquee hire business based in Nun Monkton that provides tipis, marquees and stretch tents for weddings, festivals and events.
In the winter, they run pop-up tipi bars in city centre locations across Yorkshire.
They plan to open the pub for drinks on Saturday, with the kitchen following “as soon as possible.”
A refurbishment is scheduled for January, and recruitment for bar and kitchen staff is under way.
Families and dogs will be welcome, and parking charges have been removed.
Brett and Bronte said:
“Coming from the world of events, we have big plans for The Bay Horse and we’re very excited.
“We’ll be putting together a calendar of events and we’re aiming to open our doors this Saturday for drinks.
“We would love our surrounding villages to get behind us and support us in making The Bay Horse the place to visit.”
The Bay Horse is a traditional 17th-century pub that has been a longstanding feature of the village.
The change in ownership follows Jon and Tina Clarke’s nine years of running the venue.
