New home and lifestyle shop to open in Harrogate

Seddon and Davison is set to open on Albert Street.

A new independent home and lifestyle retailer is set to open in Harrogate.

Seddon and Davison will open a new flagship store in Harrogate in the coming days, marking the latest expansion for the Yorkshire-based family business.

Founded by Kara Seddon and Mark Davison, the brand is known for its relaxed modern rustic style with a touch of understated luxury.

The Harrogate shop, located on Albert Street, will be the company’s largest store to date.

The 2,000 sq. ft. space will showcase the full Seddon and Davison collection, including furniture, lighting, soft furnishings, ceramics, glassware, candles and gifts.

The range will also feature the company’s wildlife-inspired homeware, based on original photography by co-founder Mark Davison, with selected photographic prints available in-store.

Co-founder Kara Seddon said the move to Harrogate represents an opportunity to grow while maintaining a personal approach.

She said:

“The new space gives us room to grow – not just in what we offer, but in how we continue to deliver a personalised shopping experience on the high street.”

She added that Harrogate was a natural next step due to its strong community and appreciation for independent retail.

The new flagship follows the opening of the business’s original shop in Settle in 2021 and a second in Ilkley in 2023.

As part of the expansion, the Settle store will close in August – a decision the founders say reflects the practical needs of the business as well as changes in family life.

Mark Davison said the move would also provide space to expand their creative work:

“At over 2,000 square feet, the retail area is going to be a fantastic space for customers to enjoy.

“It also gives us a separate studio for photography and the space to develop new homeware collections.”

Seddon and Davison customers will continue to be able to use the company’s loyalty scheme both online and in-store.

The business also confirmed that new team members will be recruited ahead of the Harrogate launch.

An official opening date and details of a VIP launch night are expected to be announced soon.

In the meantime, customers can continue to shop online or visit the Ilkley or Settle stores before the Settle location closes.
