A Harrogate woman has already raised £1,000 towards her fundraising goal for a breast cancer charity ahead of a 100km trek across the Great Wall of China.
Emily Lethaby will complete the five-day challenge in September as part of her efforts to raise £4,000 for CoppaFeel!, which works to promote early detection of breast cancer, particularly among young people.
Having already reached 25% of her target, Emily has been organising local fundraising events to support the cause.
On Saturday (21st March), she hosted a charity tennis tournament at Harrogate Spa Tennis Club, bringing together 22 players, along with spectators, for an afternoon of sport and fundraising.

Five winners received prizes donated by local businesses, including a Harlow Carr family ticket, Leeds Playhouse vouchers and Taylors of Harrogate tea.
In total, the event raised £431.75 for CoppaFeel!.
Emily said:
“I am just so happy with how the event was. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, the weather was amazing and I am so thankful and delighted to have raised £431.75 for such an amazing cause – it was a fantastic afternoon.”
Yaz Torry, Club Manager at Harrogate Spa Tennis Club, said:
“We are proud here at Harrogate Spa Tennis Centre to support charity and community initiatives that bring people together and make a real difference.
“Events like the CoppaFeel! tennis tournament reflect our commitment to raising awareness, strengthening our community and using sport as a force for good.”
Emily is continuing her fundraising ahead of the challenge and is encouraging anyone who would like to support her to donate via her JustGiving page here.
