A Harrogate entrepreneur has built a seven-figure business from her dining table - with no employees, no external investment and no traditional overheads.
Interim Digital, founded in 2021 by Harrogate native Ginny Nicholls, has now surpassed £1 million in total revenue, achieving 130% year-on-year growth, and all through a network of skilled freelancers and smart use of AI and automation.
Unlike traditional agencies that rely on large teams and fixed office space, Interim Digital is privately owned and operates entirely through a freelance-first model.
Over 30% of its freelance collaborators are based in Yorkshire, supporting the local economy while serving clients across the UK and beyond.
Founder Ginny said:
“There’s incredible talent in this region, we just chose to tap into it differently.
“You don’t need an office full of people to build a national agency from Harrogate.
“You need great people, great tech, and a willingness to do things differently.”
In the past 12 months alone, the business generated over £400,000 in revenue, with no full-time staff and no sales team.

Instead, Interim Digital’s flexible freelance model enables it to deliver high-quality digital marketing services at scale, from strategy and SEO to content and performance marketing.
Ginny said:
“The real power comes from combining great human relationships with slick automation.
“We use AI to develop highly efficient systems and processes, allowing us more time to focus on finding great people.
“It’s a modern way of building a business, lean, agile, and designed for how people actually want to work today.”
The business is also contributing to the regional economy in new ways, offering high-value project work to Yorkshire-based specialists and demonstrating that digital agencies no longer need to follow the traditional model to thrive.
Interim Digital recently partnered with agency growth expert Paul Muggeridge-Breene, founder of Thrive and a successful agency founder himself.
The pair aim to scale the model further and are exploring investment opportunities to support expansion.
Ginny said:
“We’ve shown that it’s possible to hit seven figures with zero employees.
"The next step is helping more freelancers, and more clients, benefit from this model.”
Interim Digital is now actively expanding its freelance network and inviting new clients who want to grow without increasing headcount.
