Pupils from Saltergate Schools in Harrogate are set to play at a Premier League stadium after securing a place in the national finals of a major schools football competition.
The girls’ team were crowned Regional Champions of the North in the ESFA Pokémon Primary Cup following a successful final at Liverpool Football Academy on Friday, where they secured a 3-1 victory.
This latest achievement builds on a strong run for the team, who have enjoyed sustained success across local and regional competitions in recent years.
They will now represent their school and Red Kite Learning Trust at Stoke City FC’s stadium in the national finals on 15 May.

The team demonstrated outstanding skill, teamwork and resilience throughout, overcoming strong opposition to secure their place.
Lisa Tremble, who coaches the team at Saltergate Schools, said:
“The girls were outstanding, showing great skill, determination, teamwork and resilience. We are incredibly proud of their achievement and excited to see them play at Stoke City FC.”
Reaching the national finals is a significant achievement and gives pupils the opportunity to play at a Premier League stadium.
The success is shared across Red Kite Learning Trust, with Austhorpe Primary School in East Leeds also reaching a national competition at a Premier League venue.
