A Harrogate charity is preparing for its fourth annual fundraising dinner to combat isolation of older people living on their own.
Supporting Older People’s Summer Ball is set to take place on Saturday 16th August at the Cedar Court Hotel and is expected to welcome 130 guests.
The evening will include prosecco on arrival, a three-course dinner, an auction and raffl, and music from Remember Hillards.
Kate Rogata, Director of Supporting Older People, said:
“Last year we raised over £14,000 and this year we hope to beat that target.
“We are delighted to have secured £4,500 sponsorship from our lead partner Vida Care, £1,045 from the Fisher Care Group, together with £750 from Promedica24, and £500 from the Yorkshire Hearing Clinic.
“These businesses together with other local sponsors and advertisers have given us a fantastic start to our biggest fundraiser of the year."
She added:
“During challenging times for charities, it is vital that we can diversify our sources of funding.
“Every penny goes towards our befriending service and activities programme for older people who live alone in Harrogate and Knaresborough.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us via sponsorship, buying tickets or donating raffle or auction prizes – we are looking forward to a wonderful night.”

Kate also confirmed that Elly Fiorentini from BBC Radio York will be the compere for the evening.
Gary Derbyshire from Promedica24 said:
“At Promedica24, we believe that ageing should be embraced with dignity, comfort, and companionship.
“Supporting Older People shares these values wholeheartedly, and we’re proud to stand alongside them in building a community where older individuals feel truly seen, heard, and supported."
Gary added:
“Together, we’re not just providing care and support — we’re making lives richer.
“Our live-in care service supports people to continue to live independently and safely in their own homes for as long as possible.
“I wish everyone a lovely time at the Summer Ball and hope it is successful in raising well-needed funds to support the great work you do in the community.”
There is still time for individuals or businesses to contribute to the event.
Anyone interested in donating a prize for the auction or raffle can contact the charity at 01423 531490 or email Team@supportingolderpeople.org.uk.
