A charity ball held in Harrogate earlier this month has revealed that more than £14,000 was raised to combat loneliness in older people.
Supporting Older People’s Summer Ball was held at Oakdale Golf Club on 6th July, with more than 100 people in attendance.
It was sponsored by live-in care provider Promedica24 and raised a total of £14,655.
The evening included a three-course meal followed by a raffle, auction and live music by local band The Motives.
A spokesperson for Supporting Older People said:
“What an amazing result and a huge thank you to everyone who came, bid in the auction, bought raffle tickets and danced to make the evening so fantastic!”
The money raised will go towards the charity’s befriending services and activities for older local people experiencing loneliness.

St Ledger Ladies Day
As part of their next fundraising venture, Supporting Older People is holding a St Ledger Ladies Day at the Hotel du Vin in September.
The event will take place on Thursday 12th September from 12pm.
Julia Lightfoot, Befriending & Activities Manager, said:
“We will be offering drinks on arrival followed by a two-course lunch and cake. We will then enjoy the races with a sweepstake – your chance to win a cash prize!
“This is a lovely way to get together with your friends for a fun filled afternoon.
Tickets are £30 and will help Supporting Older People raise vital funds to keep its service going.
