Fairport Convention to perform in Harrogate as part of winter tour Legendary British folk rockers Fairport Convention have announced dates for their Winter 2024 tour - including a visit to Harrogate. Fairport’s ‘WinTour’ will visit various venues across England, Scotland and Wales, kicking off in Milton Keynes on Tuesday 6th February. And the 30-date tour will be heading to Harrogate on Friday 1st March. Fairport Convention have been entertaining music lovers for over half a century, having formed in 1967. The band has won a BBC Lifetime Achievement Award and their story has been celebrated with television documentaries on BBC and Sky Arts. Fairport Convention features founding member Simon Nicol on guitar and vocals, Dave Pegg on bass guitar, Ric Sanders on violin and Chris Leslie on fiddle, mandolin and vocals. They will be joined on stage by former member Dave Mattacks on drums, whilst support on the night will come from Plumhall (Michelle Plum and Nick B Hall). A spokesperson for reviewers Folk & Tumble said:
“Fairport is an institution, a festival, purveyors of memories, and keepers of the folk flame. But most of all they are a brilliant live band.”Tickets for the Harrogate show can be found online here. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
