The team behind Lime Tree Café in Knaresborough will remain in place following its acquisition by British Garden Centres.
The garden centre, based within Moorland Nurseries Garden Centre on Forest Moor Road, was listed for sale earlier this autumn with a guide price of £2.5 million and marketed by Christie & Co.
Covering approximately 2.54 acres, the site includes extensive parking, glasshouses, a café, retail space and offices.
The family-run business dates back to 1947 and has served both retail and wholesale customers across the region.
It has now been confirmed that British Garden Centres will take over Moorland Nurseries in mid-March, with Lime Tree Café continuing under its existing ownership and staff.
Café owner Alison Iles said:
"We are delighted to let you know that we have been asked to stay on when the new owners, British Garden Centres take over from Moorland Nurseries in mid-March.
“The Lime Tree Café will continue with the existing ownership and staff and we plan to make improvements and alterations when our lease is extended in August.
“It’s been an uncertain time for us all but we now feel so positive about the future and would like to thank all our loyal customers for their support these past few months.”
The news has been hailed by the cafe's regular visitors.
One man said:
"[This is] great news for The Limetree, its staff and all us regular customers. A little bright news in a world of gloom!"
