Harrogate and Knaresborough MP Tom Gordon has urged British national currently in parts of the Middle East affected by conflict to 'register their presence.'
The UK Government has advised against all travel to Iran, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and against all but essential travel to several neighbouring countries, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
The Ministry of Defence and the FCDO are now coordinating an unprecedented consular operation to identify British nationals who may require support.
Tom Gordon said:
“Given the rapidly evolving situation, it is important that British nationals in affected countries register their presence with the UK Government so they can receive direct updates and assistance if needed.
“I would also encourage constituents who may currently be in the region to also get in touch with my office so we can share relevant information and ensure no one feels unsupported during this uncertain time.”
British nationals in Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Palestine, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are encouraged to register via the Government website.
Anyone currently in the region can also contact Tom Gordon MP’s parliamentary office at tom.gordon.mp@parliament.uk to receive updates and correspondence shared with MPs.
