A much-loved shop and post office in Birstwith has been listed for sale.
Andrea and Matthew Walwyn, the owners of Dales Stores and Post Office, have placed the business on the market after “twenty wonderful years.”
The pair said it hasn’t been an easy decision but feels like the “right time” for their family and the shop’s next chapter.
They said:
“We're incredibly proud of what the store has become, an award-winning village shop and Post Office at the heart of Birstwith and that pride is down to your support, loyalty and countless chats across the counter.”

Andrea and Matthew bought the Dales Stores in 2006 and have transformed it from a struggling store into a thriving community hub.
They added:
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting your local store.
“We'll keep doing our very best for you every day and we'll keep you posted on any future updates.”
Andrea and Matthew assured customers that “nothing is changing day-to-day” and the shop and Post Office will continue to operate as normal.
The business has been listed through Steve Riley, Christie & Co.
On the search for a new owner, Andrea and Matthew added:
“If you know someone who might be the perfect next custodian of a much-loved, unopposed village store, please direct any sale enquiries to our agent.”
