Belshaw departs Harrogate Town for Notts County

James Belshaw

Goalkeeper James Belshaw has left Harrogate Town, after making a total of 284 appearances for the club.

Town confirmed today (Tuesday) that the 35 year old has joined fellow League Two side Notts County for an undisclosed fee.

It brings Belshaw's second spell at the club to an end, having re-joined in January 2023.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver said:

“Belly has done a lot for the club in the promotion seasons and also when he came back two years ago.

“There's no animosity and we completely respect his decision to leave.

“We’re very thankful for his efforts here and obviously wish him well at Notts County, which is the club he supported as a boy.”

After signing from Tamworth in 2017, Belshaw has played a huge part in the club’s rise to the Football League, helping Town to National League North Promotion in his first season, before securing promotion to the EFL two years later via a Promotion Final at Wembley Stadium.

The club has said it would like to place on record its sincere thanks to ‘Belly’ for his efforts and wish him good luck for the future.

His departure follows news that Town have signed Ipswich Town goalkeeper Henry Gray on loan until the end of the season.
