A charity tractor run that will head through Ripon and the surrounding villages is set to welcome a special guest this weekend.
The St Gemma’s Charity Tractor Run event takes place on Saturday (9th August) and will start at Tates Garden Centre at 10am.
It’s fundraising in support of St Gemma’s Hospice - a Leeds-based organisation which provides specialist end-of-life care.
And taking part in this year’s tractor run will be TV’s Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright.
The event raised £2,490 last year.
The route
The tractor run will take place on a planned route starting from Tates Garden Centre at 10am, with stops scheduled at Fountains Abbey bridge, Bishop Thornton, Ripley, Markington and Ripon.
It will return to the garden centre at around 2:25pm.
At Ripley, the tractors will pause for around an hour next to the cricket pitch, where members of the public are invited to view the vehicles, meet the drivers and make donations to the hospice.
Yorkshire Vet
Television personality Peter Wright, known from The Yorkshire Vet, is expected to take part alongside fellow tractor drivers.
Filming will be taking place during the event for a Channel 5 programme set to air in 2026.
Sir Thomas Ingilby has granted permission for the use of private facilities in Ripley to support the event.
The event is open to the public with no advance booking required, and no charges to attend.
A family fun day will also be running at Tates Garden Centre throughout the day until 4pm.
Volunteers from St Gemma’s Hospice will be present and all donations are welcomed.
