Selfless Harrogate boy writes festive job letter to Santa

8-year-old Henry Robinson wants to work as an elf this Christmas.

An 8-year-old boy from Harrogate has written a letter to Santa offering his help this Christmas.

Henry Robinson, who is in Year 3 at Western Primary School, wrote the letter earlier this month offering Santa help as an elf, or as part of the Polar Express team.

Henry's grandmother, Melanie Farman, shared the letter and praised her grandson's determination.

She said:

“What has absolutely blown me away is his incredible determination to have a role with Santa, and Henry’s language choice for an eight year old stunned me.

“He is a credit to us as a family and his school.”

Henry’s letter outlines his interest in caring for Santa’s reindeer and his enthusiasm for taking on responsibility at the North Pole.

In the letter, he writes:

“Dear Santa, I am writing to you because I would love to take/apply for an amazing job.

“I would like to help the reindeer (like if they are sad or hungry, just stuff like that). I would love to get this job because I care about animals, although a different elf would pick up the reindeer dirt.”

He also explains that he has a second career option in mind should the elf role not be available:

“However if I’m not fortunate to get this job I would enjoy the astonishing job of a polar express engineer/driver, because I have experience of this job. I think it would suit me.

“I have experience of this job because I play a realistic train game so I know all the controls.”
