Knaresborough residents have questioned whether the works on Halfpenny Lane will be cleared this week as planned, with a gaping hole still yet to be filled at the site.
Yesterday (Wednesday) Your Harrogate reported that Northern Gas Networks (NGN) were hoping to have the work cleared “either Thursday or Friday” this week.
Northern Gas had contacted residents with the update after complaints about the length of the works, which started on 25th March.
However the site still appears far from ready to be used by motorists and pedestrians.
Resident Alison Jackson said:
“It won't be open, it isn’t anywhere near ready. There’s a big deep hole at the roundabout end of the works and there’s still a big hole near the pharmacy.”

In a statement, Northern Gas Networks said the works had been completed last Friday (24th May).
They apologised for the disruption caused and how long the works have taken to be completed.
They said this was due to the paperwork and sign offs that were needed.
One resident commented:
“I drove past today (Wednesday) and I’ll believe it when i see it. It looks nowhere near [ready].”
Another joked:
“I will be very surprised if it’s finished by the end of June 2025!”
