Police appeal after hit-and-run on Knaresborough High Street

Police have launched an appeal following a hit-and-run incident in Knaresborough.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a hit-and-run collision on the High Street at Knaresborough.

It happened around 12.30pm on Thursday (21st May) opposite Knaresborough House and involved a cyclist and a maroon Ford - the model is suspected to be a Fiesta or Focus.

Both the cyclist, a man aged in his 60s, and the vehicle were believed to be travelling up the High Street towards the town centre when the vehicle collided with the cyclist and knocked him off his bike.

Ambulance attended to support the cyclist with his injuries which are not serious.

The road was partially closed for one hour while we investigated the scene and the cyclist’s injuries were treated.

A police spokesperson said:

"We’re appealing for any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to contact us.

"Please email george.sunderland@northyorkshire.police.uk if you can help.

"Alternatively, you can call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and ask for George Sunderland."
