A popular fish and chip shop in Knaresborough has announced it will be closing its doors.
JR Yorkshire Fish and Chips will close on Friday (19th December) after 15 ‘wonderful’ years on Boroughbridge Road.
The shop, owned by husband-and-wife team John and Nadia, called it an “incredibly difficult decision” made due to John’s health and rising rent costs.
The pair said via a statement on social media:
“We cannot begin to express how grateful we are for the loyalty, kindness, and support you have shown us over the years.
“We have met so many amazing people, and we have been truly honoured to be a part of this community’s daily life.
“A heartfelt thank you as well to all our staff, who have worked with us and supported us throughout this journey. We couldn’t have done any of this without you!
“We’re proud of everything we built together, and truly grateful for every smile, every busy, Friday night, and every kind word shared with us.”
The pair added that this “might not be goodbye forever” and that they may return to a new Knaresborough location in the future.
JR Yorkshire Fish and Chips will be open for a final day of trading on Friday (19th) from 11:30am - 2:30pm and 4:30pm - 8pm.
