New mental health hub opens in Harrogate

Hummingbird house

A new mental health hub has opened in Harrogate, providing a modern base for both children’s and adult services in the town.

The facility, known as Hummingbird House and located at 31-33 Victoria Avenue, has been established by Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) as part of a £2.1 million refurbishment of the former Jesmond House office building.

The project consolidates several existing community teams that were previously operating across three different Harrogate sites into one central location.

The services now housed at Hummingbird House include the child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS), adult mental health services and North Yorkshire Talking Therapies.

Work on the refurbishment began in April and staff began moving into the new facility in recent weeks, with the building now described as “fully operational”.

An official opening is planned for December.

The refurbishment works have included major internal remodelling, new clinic and waiting areas, improved décor and lighting, and external enhancements, all developed with input from patients, staff and carers.

The trust emphasises that by bringing the community mental health services into a single purpose-built hub, it aims to improve accessibility, coordination of care and the experience of both patients and staff in Harrogate.

Anyone wishing to contact the services at Hummingbird House can find more details via the trust’s website. tewv.nhs.uk
