A Knaresborough businesswoman and mother-of-five is set to host a special charity event this week.
This Friday (3rd October) Alice Maguire, a private fundraiser from Knaresborough, is marking breast cancer awareness month by hosting "Pink Ladies Who Lunch" at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.
Alice has dedicated her spare time to making a difference in the community. Through her work with the It Matters Foundation, Alice has already raised more than £185,000 since early 2023 — and she shows no signs of slowing down.
Her next major fundraiser will take place at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate this Friday with Your Harrogate's Elisa Hilton, in support of Breast Cancer Now and their "wear it pink" day later this month.
Alice has been telling Your Harrogate the importance of such days:
“Breast cancer affects one in three women.
"I just feel it’s a really powerful day when we can all come together, have fun, and make a difference,”
Last year’s “Pink Ladies Who Lunch” event, held at the West Park Hotel, was a sell-out success that raised over £23,000 in just one afternoon, with guests enjoying live entertainment, music and dancing
This year’s event promises to be even bigger, with live performances from singer Nicole Lawrence, a fashion show by Sheer Bliss in Knaresborough, alongside an auction and raffle supported by local businesses including Berry’s Jewellers.
Adding extra sparkle to the day, will be Emmerdale actress Roxy Shahidi and whilst the event will offer plenty of glamour and entertainment, Alice says what matters most is the atmosphere of solidarity and generosity in the room:
“I just love the support and the love we get in the room.
"Everyone enjoys themselves, but at the end of the day, we know we’re making a difference together for such an important cause.”

Alongside the Friday's fundraiser, Alice is also planning "Back To The 80s and 90s Fancy Dress Party" in support of Martin House Children's Hospice, on 29th November at the Barrows, Weetons, on Leeds Road in Harrogate.
Tickets and more information about Alice’s upcoming events can be found on the It Matters Foundation website here.
