Harrogate Mayor cuts ribbon at opening of new interior design shop

Councillor Chris Aldred, Mayor of Harrogate, at the opening of Roomsmiths.

The Mayor of Harrogate has officially opened a new interior design shop in what was his 100th official engagement.

Councillor Chris Aldred marked the occasion at the opening of Roomsmiths on Saturday (7th March).

The showroom, located at Regent House on Albert Street, has been launched by interior designers Cheryl Duerden and Jen Danks, who bring more than 40 years of combined experience in the industry.

The new business has introduced the Luxaflex® Gallery concept to Harrogate for the first time, offering a range of window treatments alongside interior design services, wallpapers, fabrics and COAT paints.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held outside the Albert Street premises, with the mayor formally opening the shop.

Owners Jen and Cheryl said:

“Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate it was a pleasure to see you all and welcome you to our new home.”

Speaking about the decision to open in Harrogate, Jen added:

“Harrogate has an incredible interiors scene, creative, design led and full of brilliant independents.

"It’s exactly the kind of place where homeowners value thoughtful, personalised solutions, and we’re excited to be part of that.”
