Local charity Essential Needs celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special event in Harrogate.
40 past and present volunteers, trustees and staff came together to enjoy food, drinks and a special anniversary cake at The Oatlands to mark three decades of supporting local people in furniture poverty.
Manager Lee Wright said:
“It was lovely to see so many people who have been involved at Essential Needs over the years, including those who were instrumental in founding the charity, and team members who have clocked up over 17 years as volunteers with us.
"In celebration of our 30th anniversary, we've pulled together a fascinating back catalogue of photos and newspaper articles, dating back to our store opening on 5 December 1995.
"It's amazing to see how far we've come, but quite simply, we would not exist without the support of our volunteers.”
Lee also extended thanks to The Oatlands staff for their warm hospitality and to Indulge Catering for providing the buffet.
A highlight of the afternoon was the cutting of the ceremonial anniversary cake by the current and two former Chairmen of the Board of Trustees - Joy Allan, John Hopkins and Nick Anderson.

Over the last 30 years, Essential Needs has supported more than 12,000 people and families across the district who are experiencing furniture poverty.
The charity has been able to re-use and redistribute over 140,000 pieces of good-quality furniture, household items and white goods, giving them a second life in homes where they are needed most.
Essential Needs is located behind Leeds Road shops at Back Gladstone Street, Harrogate, HG2 8DF and contactable on 01423 870040 and essentialneeds@gmail.com
