Harrogate friends host 14-hour golf tournament to fundraise for cancer charity
A group of friends from Harrogate have raised £3,500 for Yorkshire Cancer Research after hosting a 14-hour golf tournament.
The event, which was held at Rudding Park in Harrogate, was organised by brothers Nat and Josh Cutts.
Yorkshire Cancer Research funds world-leading research to help prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer in the region.Nat, from Shaw Mills in Harrogate, said:
“We wanted to fundraise for Yorkshire Cancer Research because we’ve had someone close to us be treated for cancer several times.
"The fact that they are still with us makes myself and my brothers very grateful for cancer research, and the work that Yorkshire Cancer Research continues to fund.”
Nat and Josh were joined on the course by friends James Orton and Pete Hardisty.
The four friends all have a keen interest in golf, and felt the challenge was a perfect opportunity to raise funds for a regional charity.
Nat said:
“We’re all Yorkshire born and raised, so raising funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research makes us feel more connected to the work in the region, and it feels as though we may even help to save the life of someone in our region.
“The four of us are all avid golf fans too, so it felt like the perfect opportunity to do something that would be equal parts a challenge and a pleasure.”
The fundraising kicked-off bright and early at 5am.
After completing four rounds of golf, made up of 72 holes, they finished their golf day at 7:30pm.
Nat added:

“We didn’t expect to raise that much when we first planned to do the event, so it feels like a great success.”
