Former astronaut to visit Harrogate as part of upcoming tour A famous former astronaut is set to visit Harrogate’s Convention Centre in September as part of an upcoming tour. Tim Peake is visiting the town as part of his tour ‘Astronauts: The Quest To Explore Space’. He is known for being the first British astronaut to live on the International Space Station. Tim had an 18-year career in the Army before he joined the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2009. He eventually retired from the ESA in 2023, but still works for the UK Space Agency as an ambassador to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and maths. Tim said:
“I am so honoured to have experienced the wonders of space travel myself, and yet it still continues to amaze me just how much spaces inspires and fascinates people of all ages. “Being able to share a small taste of what I have discovered during my time as an astronaut – from my own stories to the groundbreaking moments from the past, present and future of space exploration – The Quest To Explore Space will give space fans a unique insight into this most magical place.”The tour will feature archive material and footage of space exploration as Tim brings to life the awe-inspiring adventures of astronauts. The show is coming to Harrogate Convention Centre on Thursday 19th September, following the huge success of his sold out debut tour My Journey To Space.
