DalesBus has published details of how bus and train services will operate across the Harrogate area over the Christmas and New Year period, with amended timetables in place on several days.
As in previous years, services will be reduced or altered around the festive holidays.
Changes will affect routes run by the Harrogate Bus Company, Flyer buses, Connexions and local train operators, with a mix of Saturday, Sunday and weekday timetables in operation depending on the date.
On Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 December, Flyer buses and the Harrogate Bus Company will run to a Saturday timetable, while Connexions buses and trains will operate as normal for a weekday.
On Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 December, Flyer buses and the Harrogate Bus Company will again operate a Saturday timetable but with early finishes.
Connexions buses and trains will run to a weekday timetable, with some minor alterations and earlier-than-usual finishes on rail services.
On Christmas Eve, the final services into Harrogate will include the 36 from Leeds at 8.15pm, the last train from Leeds at 7.36pm, the 36 from Ripon at 7.40pm, the X52 from Otley at 6.00pm, the 24 from Pateley Bridge at 7.25pm, the 1B from Knaresborough at 8.33pm, the last train from Knaresborough at 8.12pm, the 7 from Wetherby at 8.00pm and the A2 from Bradford at 5.15pm. The final departures from Harrogate will include the 2 to Bilton at 7.45pm, the 3 to Jennyfield at 8.20pm and the 6 to Pannal Ash at 8.25pm.
No bus or train services will operate on Christmas Day, Thursday 25 December. On Boxing Day, Friday 26 December, a limited bus service will run on routes 36 and 1A/1C only, to a special timetable. Buses will operate every 30 minutes between Leeds and Knaresborough and every hour between Harrogate and Ripon, from around 8.45am until 7.15pm. No train services will run, and no other bus routes will operate. Full Boxing Day bus timetables are available via the Harrogate Bus Company website.
A Saturday timetable will apply to all bus and train services on Saturday 27 December, while a Sunday timetable will operate on Sunday 28 December. On Monday 29 and Tuesday 30 December, buses will run to a Saturday timetable across all routes, with trains operating to a weekday timetable.
On New Year’s Eve, Wednesday 31 December, buses will run to a Saturday timetable and trains to a weekday timetable, both with early finishes. Last services will be the same as those operating on Christmas Eve. No bus services will operate on New Year’s Day, Thursday 1 January, while trains will run to a weekday timetable with minor alterations. On Friday 2 January, Flyer buses and the Harrogate Bus Company will operate a Saturday timetable, with Connexions buses and trains running to a weekday schedule. Normal services across all routes will resume on Saturday 3 January.
Passengers are also advised that on days when the Harrogate Bus Company is operating a Saturday timetable, additional early-morning journeys will run on route 6, leaving Harrogate at 7.15am and 7.45am. In addition, DalesBus services 59 and 74 will operate on Saturday 27 December only.
Passengers are encouraged to check operator websites and allow extra time for travel during the holiday period.
