Care home steps in to support Boroughbridge football team

Boroughbridge Under 8s football team, sponsored by Boroughbridge Manor Care Home.

A local care home has stepped in to support a Boroughbridge junior football team.

The Boroughbridge Juniors FC Under 8s team has a new kit thanks to residential care home Boroughbridge Manor - part of Barchester Healthcare.

Boroughbridge Manor, on Roecliffe Lane in the town, provides a range of accommodation and services for older people in need of support, from respite care to 24-hour residential care.

The sponsorship sees the club’s youngest players compete with the company’s logo on their new team kit.

The team competes in the Hambleton and Richmondshire Junior Football League and has a squad drawn from the town and surrounding villages.

Chris Fahy, Boroughbridge Junior FC chair said:

“The support of the community and sponsorship from companies like Boroughbridge Manor Care Home is so important for a grassroots football club.

"This is the team’s first year in a league and the sponsorship from Boroughbridge Manor means that the boys will look their best when they take to the field to play teams from across North Yorkshire.”

Susan Carter, General Manager of Boroughbridge Manor care home added:

“We are delighted to be able to sponsor our local team and wish the club every success this season.

"We will be cheering them on and looking forward to hearing how they are progressing in the league.

"Lots of our staff and residents are very keen football fans and some have family ties to the club, so we take great interest in keeping up to date with the club’s news.”

Boroughbridge JFC is an FA accredited club and provides a high-quality football experience with FA trained coaches.

Games and training sessions take place at Boroughbridge High School and Boroughbridge AFC on Aldborough Road on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

The club has teams aged from seven to 16 years and runs weekly Weetabix Wildcats sessions for girls, Ability for All sessions for pan-disability players and has plans to run training sessions for players aged five years and under.
