Well-known Harrogate figures to be 'jailed' as part of unique fundraising event A team of well-known Harrogate figures and community leaders will be facing ‘time behind bars’ as part of a fun fundraiser in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice. Your Harrogate's Nick Hancock has organised the 'Jail or Bail' fundraiser which will involve the team being locked up and only released if they meet a fundraising target of £500. Volunteers include James Rycroft from Vida Healthcare, Harry Gator from Harrogate Town Football Club and Matthew Mackeness from Rudding Park. They will be doing ‘porridge’ for their entirely fictitious crimes at The Harrogate Inn on Friday (27th October) and will have four hours to come up with their bail to ensure release. During the event, they will have their mugshots taken, spend time in the exercise yard and most importantly, try to raise as much money as possible to secure their release and support the hospice care charity. Nick, Presenter and Creative Director at Your Harrogate, said:
“Working in the Harrogate district for so many years, you realise that pretty much everyone you meet has had some experience of the care and support offered by Saint Michael’s. “This seemed like a great way to support this well-loved charity.”Tony Collins, chief executive of Saint Michael’s Hospice, said:
"We are delighted that Nick and his team have chosen to support us in this imaginative and fun way. "We wish everyone concerned much luck in raising their ‘bail’ in time. "The money they raise will make a real difference to our vital services across the Harrogate District and we are very grateful to everyone who is taking part.’"You can support the fundraising at https://justgiving.com/campaign/jailandbailyourharrogate Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
