Harrogate Town Council will hear fresh proposals for up to 350 new homes on land off Penny Pot Lane and Oaker Bank this week.
Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey is preparing a planning application for the site and will present initial plans to the council’s planning committee.
The meeting will be held at Harrogate Civic Centre on Wednesday (17th September) at 5.30pm.
The session is part of a pre-application consultation and will include a presentation by a Taylor Wimpey representative, followed by questions and comments from members of the public and councillors.
A spokesperson for Harrogate Town Council said:
“This is a pre-application consultation when the Town Council will be able to find out more about what is proposed and will be able to ask questions, seek clarification or provide information in relation to the proposals.
“The Town Council will not be expressing a view on the proposals next week, as the opportunity to do this will come when an application is submitted.”
According to information released by the developer, the proposals include a mix of affordable and market homes ranging from one to five bedrooms, along with new access points via Penny Pot Lane and Oaker Bank.
Significant areas of public open space are also planned, including play areas, tree-lined roads and landscaped green corridors.
Taylor Wimpey says it is aiming to create a net gain in biodiversity on the site and is considering the addition of a community orchard and flexible community building space.
Leaflets about the scheme are being distributed locally and more details are available online here.
