A Crowdfunder campaign to save Knaresborough’s 'Party in the Castle' needs more support before it comes to an end this month.
The free-to-attend event invites visitors to the grounds of Knaresborough Castle for a screening of Glastonbury, with people often bringing their own chairs and picnic blankets for a festival atmosphere.
Due to be held on 28th June, it's organised by Knaresborough & District Chamber and relies on funding from North Yorkshire Council’s locality budget.
However, due to cuts, this funding is no longer available.
Knaresborough Chamber are aiming to raise £5,000 through Crowdfunder to keep the event going.
But with just 20 days left of the campaign, the group is still £2,000 short of its target.

A spokesperson for Knaresborough Chamber said:
“Party in the castle is our biggest event for the whole community that we are proud to put on for free, however nothing is actually free.
“We usually get half the funding from North Yorkshire Council through the Locality Budget, but this year we have had the sad news that due to the cuts we will need to raise the full amount ourselves.
“We ask all who can contribute to please do so generously. We can’t sell tickets but we can crowdfund.”
Money raised will go towards costs for screen, insurances, waste disposal, licensing and permits.
