Sir Geoffrey Boycott announced as guest speaker for Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity golf day

Yorkshire Air Ambulance has announced the return of its annual charity golf day for 2026, with cricketing legend and YAA Patron, Sir Geoffrey Boycott, OBE confirmed as after-dinner speaker.

Taking place on Thursday 21 May 2026 at the prestigious Alwoodley Golf Club, the event will bring together supporters, businesses and golf enthusiasts for a full day of competition and hospitality, all in support of the charity’s lifesaving work across Yorkshire.

Delivered as a four-ball, shotgun-start tournament, the day will begin with breakfast and refreshments on arrival, followed by play on one of England’s finest inland courses.

Guests will then enjoy a two-course lunch, with Sir Geoffrey Boycott, OBE joining attendees to share stories and reflections from his career, and his long-standing support for Yorkshire Air Ambulance as a Patron of the charity.

Alongside the main competition, players will also take part in on-course challenges, and all guests will receive a goody bag, with a raffle and silent auction taking place during the day, featuring a range of prizes including an authenticated, signed boxing glove worn by Muhammad Ali, presented in a glass display case.

Sir Geoffrey Boycott OBE, Patron of Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said,

“This is a Charity that means a great deal to people all across Yorkshire and I am delighted to be a long-standing Patron.

"The crews do an outstanding job, often in very difficult circumstances, and they rely on support from the public and businesses to keep going.

"Events like this help make sure the helicopters and crews can continue being there when people need them most.

"The golf day is an opportunity to enjoy a great course, good company and raise funds for such a vital service.

"I’m looking forward to joining everyone at Alwoodley and being part of what promises to be a very special day, and hopefully getting a round in myself!.”

The event is priced at £230 per person, with all proceeds supporting Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s essential operations.

The charity receives no direct government funding and relies on the generosity of individuals and businesses to keep its helicopters and critical care teams responding to emergencies across the region.

The event will also be supported by corporate partners, with opportunities available for businesses to get involved through headline and hole sponsorship.

The day offers organisations the chance to entertain clients or colleagues, connect with other supporters, and align with one of Yorkshire’s most recognised emergency charities.

Helen Berriman, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Yorkshire Air Ambulance, said,

“Events like our Charity golf day are a wonderful way to bring businesses together in support of Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the lifesaving work our crews carry out every day.

"We’re incredibly grateful to the organisations who have already pledged their support, and we would warmly welcome other businesses to join us as sponsors for the 2026 event.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to be part of a special day at Alwoodley, while aligning with a Charity that serves communities across Yorkshire.

"The support of our corporate partners plays a vital role in helping us continue being there for those who need us most.”

Places for the charity golf day are limited due to the format of the event, and teams and individual players are now invited to register their interest.
