
Pupils and staff at Sharow Church of England Primary School are celebrating a major milestone after receiving a 'good' rating in their latest Ofsted inspection.
In the newly published report, inspectors rated the school ‘good’ across all five key areas: the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision.
Headteacher Jacqui Palmer hailed the result as a testament to the collective effort of the entire school community.
She said:
“We are delighted with the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection,” said Mrs Palmer.
“It reflects the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, and the support of our families and governors.
"We are committed to continuing our journey of improvement and ensuring every child at Sharow Church of England Primary School flourishes.”
The school, located just outside Ripon and currently home to 85 pupils, has undergone significant changes since its previous inspection in early 2024, which rated the school as ‘requiring improvement’.
The new report commended the school's inclusive learning environment, strong curriculum development, and commitment to personal development and safeguarding.
The chair of governors, Michael Paul, praised the staff's unwavering commitment. He said,
“This report simply confirms what the governing board has been seeing for the past few years – excellent progress in the quality of education the children are receiving."
The education and experiences children receive at Sharow will stay with them into secondary school and beyond.
"I would like to thank Mrs Palmer and all the staff for the amount of work, dedication and expertise they have shown.
"This judgement is down to them, and I know they have ambitions to take the school even further.”
Mrs Palmer added that the school’s "warm atmosphere, focus on academic excellence, and emphasis on personal growth" make it an ideal setting for young learners.
